Bill Reid Foundation Gallery |
5:45-7:30pm Tue 6 May 2008
The next TAA event is truly a much anticipated occasion... We are being treated to a behind-the-scenes preview of the exciting new Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art - which will be officially opened to the public later in the same week. TAA has been invited by Dr. George MacDonald, President of the Foundation (and Gallery Director) who will personally conduct the tour - and give TAA members the benefit of his perspective on the new gallery and its future programmes. Archaeologist and Anthropologist Dr. MacDonald is one of Canada's most celebrated museum directors: He was founding director of the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Ottawa, CEO of five Victoria State museums in Melbourne, Australia, and supervised the four-phase expansion of the renowned Burke Museum in Seattle. He has long been associated with Simon Fraser University and as visiting scholar at the UBC Museum of Anthropology. He was named to the Order of Canada in July, 2006. |
