ADMINISTRATIVE DIRECTOR
Trudy Gilpin
As Administrative Director of TAA Canada, my work with the Board members and their committees is interesting and exciting. The ever changing needs of TAA Canada as a growing tool to promote the themed attraction industry in BC and across Canada is a challenge that all our board members are eager to meet.
COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE
Chair
Eric Ansley, Cone House Inc.
Associate Chair
Chris Au, Didax Design Group
The Communication Committee comprising Eric Ansley, Chris Au, Michelle Brazeau and Robert Ballantyne, met in late April to consider target audiences, media and key messages based on the draft Vision statements. Ballantyne proposed a formula to enhance web search engine ranking of all members, to be developed. Other recommendations from the meeting were presented at the Board Meeting in early May. The newsletter will be realigned as our organ of record, published on a quarterly basis, with more focus on individuals. Members will be encouraged to submit educational articles of general interest to our industry.
EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Co-Chairs
Barry Marshall, Karo Design Vancouver Inc.
Ian McLennan, Ian McLennan Consulting
Darren Luce, CD/M2 Lightworks
We are exploring the many opportunities available for professional development. Conferences, panel presentations (like the NAI Attract or Perish, page 4), webinars, and journals offer great benefits to both members and clients. Areas of interest include Design + Storytelling, Programming + Project Management, Technology + Products, and Business + Management.
EVENTS COMMITTEE
Co-Chairs
Scott McCullough, Lightroom FX
Ian McLennan, Ian McLennan Consulting
The focus of the upcoming events will be to appeal to a full cross-section of our membership. The planned events will be both entertaining and informative with as high a calibre of presenters as possible. We will also investigate the viability of joint sponsorship of events with other associations with shared visions.
MARKETING COMMITTEE
Co-Chairs
Duane Fast, Artcraft Display Graphics Inc.
Isaac Marshall, Aldrich Pears Associates
We will continue marketing ourselves to users of our services as well as to potential new members (see below). We were able to benefit from member Hal Kalman’s recent trip to Shanghai to build upon our connections with the Shanghai Expo 2010 organization. He reports that the TAA is very well positioned to take advantage of upcoming opportunities.
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Co-Chairs
Duane Fast, Artcraft Display Graphics Inc.
Isaac Marshall, Aldrich Pears Associates
To build a dynamic organization we need a critical mass of new members flowing into the group. More members translate into more interesting events, more networking and partnership opportunities as well more much-needed funding for our operational costs. This is where you come in.
Every TAA Canada member knows many potential members including suppliers and clients. TAA Canada provides many services, resources and networking opportunities. To facilitate your sales pitches for the TAA, we have membership packages that can be mailed to prospective members.
